5 More Fictional Books in the Tardis Library #DoctorWho

As we wait for the new season of Doctor Who to begin, let’s take another tour of the Tardis Library and discover a few of the fictional books that reside there:

  • Flora and Fauna of the Universe by Professor Thripsted

    According to the Professor, Usurians are poisonous fungi. It appeared or was mentioned in the episode The Sun Makers. .

    The classic series – The Sun Makers: Season 15, episodes 1 through 4. First aired: 26 Nov. 1977, 3, 10, 17 Dec. 1977.

    Fourth Doctor portrayed by Tom Baker.

  • Tardis

  • The French Revolution, author unknown.

    This book turns up in An Unearthly Child when Barbara Wright (a teacher) lends the book to Susan Foreman (Doctor Who’s granddaughter), who notices inaccuracies. Ace also picks up a similarly titled book in Remembrance of the Daleks.

  • ‘An illustrated guide to the Swampie tribe’

    The Doctor describes this atrociously written book as ‘A sort of Bayeux tapestry with footnotes.’ He found it on the third moon of Delta Magna. It’s in the episode The Power of Kroll.

    The classic series – The Power of Kroll: Season 16, episodes 1-4. First aired: 23 & 30 Dec. 1978, 6 & 13 Jan. 1979.

  • The Journal of Impossible Things by Verity Newman

    “The story of a woman who fell in love with a man from the stars, based on the diaries of Joan Redfern.” Featured in part two of The End of Time.

    First aired 1 Jan. 2010.

  • The Last Chance for Man by Charles Grover

    This book was written by the secret leader of Operation Golden Age. It’s an environmental treatise by a politician. It’s mentioned in the episode Invasion of the Dinosaurs.

    The classic series – Invasion of the Dinosaurs: Season 11 episodes 1-6. First aired: 12, 19, 26 Jan. 1974, 2, 9, 16 Feb. 1974.

    Third Doctor portrayed by Jon Pertwee.
