It’s been a tough week, writing wise. I’ve stuck to my morning writing schedule, but am only pushing out a few hundreds words each day. Tis true that’s better than none at all. The first draft is 69% finished and the chances of reaching the goal of 50,000 words are slim. However, after adding more sensory details during the editing process and rewrites, I might make it.Though building the new website was fairly easy, it consumed a lot of my time. I’m still working out some kinks, but overall I’m pleased. It is my hope that it will help with marketing and branding.
I do have a couple pleasant things to report. First, Dale Herring a.k.a. @Horror_Nerd posted a review of my short story, Abandon, on his blog, The Geekdom of Gore. As he doesn’t usually read this particular genre, I was more than pleased by his words. Four out of five stars. Whoo Hoo!
Dale also reviewed Fool’s Journey. He said, “Overall “Fool’s Journey” was a great read and Missy Frye has the skills to make it far. I will be on the look out for her work in the future.” That gave me the incentive I needed to finish the sequel to Fool’s Journey.
Tim King featured Abandon on his blog as the weekly Teaser Tuesday. He shared a snippet from the story. I’m so grateful for his help in promoting my work.
Please take a few moments to visit both of these distinguished gentleman. Their blogs are full of interesting fodder for the writer’s mind.
Before I close, I want to announce a new feature that I’ll be rolling out soon. Indie-Author Interviews. I’m still working on the basics (though I have one interview already lined up), but plan to spotlight independent authors twice monthly. It’s my way of giving back to the writing community. So, if you’ve self-published and would like some free promotion for your work, let me know.
