Determination and Writing Goals

Once you take a break from writing, it’s tough to get back into the groove. It’s like riding a bicycle, you don’t forget, but you feel a little wobbly that first time you go for a ride.

I’m riding writing again. Things aren’t flowing as smoothly as they did when I first started this WIP, but I have a direction and am getting words on the page.

I sent my best friend the first part of my novel, just to get an opinion. She said, “It is a great read so far…” and, “I’d like to see it on the Lifetime channel someday.”

There are some people in your life that you expect to blow smoke up your know wouldn’t hurt your feelings. You can’t expect an unbiased opinion from them. Not this woman. She’s known for her brutal honesty and I’ve been on the receiving end of that honesty more times than I can count. Sometimes the truth is ugly and it hurts. Her opinion of my WIP made me feel good. I know she’s being honest.

The plan was to have pages ready to send to my CP by Friday. I’ve had unexpected interruptions and medical appointments getting in the way of writing time. Though I’ve written, I’ve yet to finish a chapter. My goal of having the first draft finished by July will probably be moved out a little bit. Maybe the first of August. My determination is back and I know my goals will be reached. Maybe not in the time-frame I expected, but reached none-the-less.
