Lawrence Parlier was born in Georgetown, Ohio. He fell in love with music and literature at an early age and pursued his muse in both worlds. At 13, he started playing guitar and spent his teen years honing his skills at music. After reading a biography of Jim Morrison he discovered the mad poets, Rimbaud and the Beats and sought a greater depth in his lyrics. By his early 20’s he was the singer and guitarist for the heavy metal band “The Malevolent.” The band while having great potential fell by the wayside in the early 90’s due to drugs and personal conflict.
Prior to Lawrence’s debut novel “Sierra Court Blues,” several of his poems have been published in contest anthologies with literary magazines throughout the United States. Never truly leaving music behind; he can be seen jamming with his guitar in bands in and around the Cincinnati area. Lawrence currently resides in Bethel, Ohio, with his wife Trina, and their 3 children.
